Range Rover Evoque about to go in to production in China
It’s been clear Jaguar Land Rover intend to build cars in China – a huge market for Jaguar Land Rover – for some time, but now, with a new factory about to open near Shanghai, that’s about to become a reality. JLR’s new plant in China is in Changhsu and is a joint venture with JLR’s China partner – Chery Automobile – where Chery will be producing JLR cars with a Chery badge on the bonnet. The new plant is due to open in October – with production starting soon after – and as well as producing Chery cars for China JLR will also be building the Range Rover Evoque – JLR’s biggest seller in China – for the local market.
CA MAKER Toyota is recalling more than 35,000 UK cars after it discovered faults that could deactivate airbags, cause seats to move while driving or, in a rarer case that involves undue force, break steering columns. The three separate issues affect some RAV4, Hilux, Yaris and Urban Cruiser models, Toyota said. The Japanese company said there had been no reports of accidents, injuries or fatalities linked to the issues from anywhere in the world, but it was recalling the 35,124 UK-registered vehicles in line with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) code of practice.

The new Mercedes SL 65 AMG has been revealed at the New York Auto Show and Mercedes are doing a 45th anniversary special to celebrate. It’s just a couple of weeks since the new Mercedes SL 65 AMG was revealed and now, with the New York Auto Show under way, the range-topping SL has had its first public outing. To celebrate the launch of the 2013 SL 65 AMG and the 45th anniversary of the first SL, Mercedes has announced a special edition SL 65 to soak up a few more pennies from those already willing to pay getting on for £200k for an SL – the Mercedes SL 65 AMG 45th Anniversary Edition.
